Buildings without pillars.

I saw a building with pillars all around..Though the pillars are strong, I guess I would not dare to live in my house with pillars.. What if one of the pillars falls? Would not the whole house collapse?

This is the same as for friendship.. The word is simply trust.. Stop trusting someone is like destroying a pillar in a building.. To put it simple, you are destroying the friendship..

I realised that when the end of a friendship starts when someone stops trusting that friend of his or her.. Talking about conflicts with friend, I realised that people stopped trusting. But they do not know the consequences of stop trusting..

Let us just remembered that trust is simply the pillar of a friendship.

AOE PART TWO

Battle Two was quite of the mission impossible..Though I lose,I am quite happy that I defended the base and Hakim did too..(Though I guess he forged an alliance with the enemy..)I built my base fast so that I can defend my base..

At that time,I was busily fended off all the attacks but Deyou destroyed all my settlers(people who gathered resources).I was spamming troops and upgrading at the same time..First wave came from Shaun..But was destroyed..Second wave came from Deyou..But it was destroyed because I got a cute little fort..

I forgot which wave it was..But it was from Deyou..There were 20 over infantry and this time my cute little heavy canon booms..His troops were bombarded..Five by five died..The second most memorable time is that there were all calvary but was destroyed by my little heavy canons..

After that Trade Monopoly ended the game, great thanks to Chui..

AOE LAN PART ONE

Yah..What a nice game with Chui and his friends..We were playing Age Of Empire Three,a real time strategy game.(if you do not know) I played my low level Dutch but I am quite happy that everything turns out quite well for me..

First game versus Chui and Shaun..It was kinda fun though it was Deyou, who was having all the fun harassing Chui's base..I and Hakim was building our forces.(Though I was simply fast aging.)At first,I attacked Shaun's trading post and destroyed it..

But the second time,I attacked it and I was repelled. But later Hakim that attacked him,not me..Chui got harassed all the time but I was upgrading this and that..Until I reached Imperial Age,I start to build up my forces.(Though it was built up already.)

I went to attack Shaun first and his troops were destroyed by my cute little heavy canons..After that,I went to Chui's base and said hi..End Of Battle One.

Formula One

I was watching the Formula One until 8.30..until I heard that there was an accident that happened..Alonso won which was quite shocking because when I was watching,he was number 12th..

But the most irritating thing was, before the Formula One,I was having a good rest..Then when I was sleeping soundly,my dum dum brother turned on the volume so loud..(Even when I took my jacket and a large blanket, the voice was still loud!!!)

Though it was a singing concert by Jacky Cheung,I was not entertaining it at all.(Because I was simply sleeping.)Back to class lesson..(Done in school)

Communication Thermometer

I saw many who communicated well with each other become close friends. But I realised something else too, many people have depend on communication to be their 'friendship thermometer'.

Situations Like this:

1."If I found it hard to communicate with that someone, surely this person cannot be my friend."

2."This close friend of mine has not been communicating with me,I think it is time to break this friendship."

3."This person talked too little to me.I do not think he can be my good friend."

I realized in these common situations, the communication cannot be used to measure the intimacy of a friend. Simply, what exactly can we used to measure the intimacy of a friend?

I am planning to learn the basics of a keyboard, not the computer keyboard. It has been a long time that I have not touched the keyboard and I think it is a great time to play it again. The greatest problem for me playing the keyboard is simply too much experience on number..

I mean that I have playing number, than musical notes(A,B,C,D,E,F,G).Because in my time in CO(Chinese Orchestra),I played the instrument called sheng..All I see are scrolls of number though I was asked to learn musical notes which I failed..

I guess now it is the best time cause I should have forgotten all about playing numbers..So let the music starts..

Evaluation Of My Team Members

Evaluation Of My Team Members

I am glad that my team was great and I was quite worried of Yun Ing and Pei Feng because they were the quieter one. In the end, they proved me wrong and I am happy about that.

Actually, it was my desire for Felix to be the last speaker because he is a powerful communicator and was the kind of people who can convince you even if you are skeptical. In the end, he was the second member and it was a good choice overall because people are more motivated to talk better.

For Li Jiawei, it was simply sweet and short and he concluded well with all the points summarized. There were quite a lot of points that were generated in the team discussion and I was glad that he was able to conclude well.

Fierce Debate

A fierce debate happened today and there was a high level of competence in this class.I was not expecting any debate in the class and I was quite paranoid of losing the debate..Because I have a bad experience with the word 'debate'.

I was simply speaking Greek and people cannot understand. The teacher could not understand and I was criticized for not going through the points with my team mates.(That was during my secondary school and it was my first debate.)

But the debate inside the class was quite good. I was afraid that I was rebutted and I may not be able to answer. But I think I did well, I guess.

Contaminated milk

Milk, anyone? After hearing the recent news that milk is not recommended to drink, because your milk products from China is simply contaminated. It has been a big headline in my home and I think that it is also a big news in Singapore. (But the bad thing is that China products is going to be affected.)

Now, I have to eat very carefully. While I was eating my coffee cake for breakfast, I ate it with caution. Because I was afraid that milk is used in the cake.. Now, I had to think twice about eating my favourite snack, chocolate..

Haha..But I guess I will lose there. Cause I only good at using sniper rifle but I am really bad at other guns..(I did improve.) Anyway,Red Alert 3 is going to come out soon.. It is one of my favourite game..

I tried to play China in aoe(Age of empire) and it is really imba..Should be banned..Haha..

Loyalty to one's friend

Loyalty?

Here are two scenarios (Pretend you are appointing a commander in chief for war.)

Albert- Good tactician and leader

Lewis- Very loyal to his country

Which one will you choose?

Keep your comments to yourself first if you choose Albert. There may be lots of candidates who are also are good tactician and leader. But there are few that are very loyal to their country.

Let not talk about soldiers now. Let us talked about friends. Are you loyal to your friend? This question I leave to answer.

I realised that many people forgot that we are imperfect people, which means that we make mistakes. We make mistakes not a few times, but many times. These included mistakes we made in friendship.

These also included that your friend is good. Good in the meaning that someone who has a true intimacy with you. Intimacy is not determined by how well you communicate with a friend but by level of understanding with each other and the level of trust.

Scientifically proven

“Anything that is not scientifically proven is not to be true?”

It was somehow my facilitator says and it is not even true at all. Tell me how many things are not scientifically proven. Why do people know how to love? Why do people have feelings? Why do people have logic inside them?

If man has to mate with a female, but at the beginning, who is doing that? Even great scientists who came up with universal theory that is used in daily lives have not scientifically proved it.

I am currently playing a nice old strategy game which is called the Age of Empire 3. Haha..I think I need to concentrate on my studies but the discouraging thing is that, my own polytechnic friend are enjoying their holidays while I have to go to school as usual.

Occam's razor

Occam's razor-KISS(Keep it simple,stupid.).At first,it was the hardest problem I ever faced.Because there were funny things like phlogiston theory and group selection theory.I was like hitting my head against the wall because it was not even simple.

I opened up nine Internet tabs just to see what exactly the problem was talking about. But the one that hitted me hard is the heliocentric model..Not because the planets revolved around the Sun,but because of why and how does it revolved?

In the end,I am doing the phlogiston theory and this complex word is just carbon dioxide.I learned new things like mercury which is burned in the air would formed a precipitate per se and a new air.And guess what?

Precipitate per se is mercury oxide
New air is none other than oxygen

Introvert Act

"One introvert normally befriend an individual are normally brought to a group to socialize together."

Let just pretend this person joined two groups. He joined the group where this group liked soccer. But he does not like anything about soccer and there is a distance between him and the group. Therefore, he may leave the group.

Later, he joined another group of people who liked to play computer games. He himself more of the person who loved to played games like counterstrike and the people there also liked playing there. So he enjoyed himself there very much.

Oh man, Sherman Lum, what are you talking about? One group loved to play computer games and one group loved to play soccer. What am I relating to? Interests!!! Normally group has one or more common interests and some introverts may be left out because they may not like the interests the group held.

O level result-The past

I still remembered the time when my O level exams is out..Everybody is rejoicing and they seems like a family has a newborn. But for me,I was quite depressed.I studied quite hard for it but I got a result that was 23 points..

After I was given the O level result,I went out with Llewelyn and all.I was the only one who was frowning all the time and we were at Novena Square.Though there were quite many words of encouragement, but I was still disappointed..

After the outing,I remembered I went out to Yishun Park..Some went to play the swing and some climbed the 'pyramid'.Some went to the playground..I was thinking and thinking(But to be truthful,I am thinking 3/4 of a day.)

I was dwelling on the failure, but not trying to be out of this situation..It taught me a little but important lesson,"What you sow is what you reap."

Bored again now and then

I always found it hard even to drag myself to come to school today..I dun feel like coming to school because it has really become quite boring out here..The word is "sian' and I found it so hard to like Maths..

I remembered for my O level Maths that it was relatively easy and it was the only subject that I almost completed a book that is as 3/4 thick as your normal science textbook..In the end,I got a C5 grade though I studied quite hard for it..

In my O level,my physics also did not do quite well because I was too proud..Instead,my chemistry did better..Maybe that may be my reason of not coming to school..'

Initial d and psp

After downloading initial d episodes,I have a good time to watch them.(Though I heard from my friend that they are quite old.)The funny thing is that during I was watching the episodes,my brother tried to pronouce the name of Takumi..

It was something like,'Tak..tak..ku..mi'..Really dum.(But my pronunciations is not good either.)

Haha..but the show is really long but not as animated like Gundam Seed Destiny.)But the person who can drive a car so good in the show is Bunta..

But the next funny thing is that,my brother updated his psp to 4.05..Guess what happened? He now cannot play games that are of iso and cso..

Red Cliff

I have been spending my time sleeping and watching..Strangely for a teenager, I am not playing at all. Not counterstrike, not Initial D or anything. Just sleeping, eating and watching all the time... Ha-ha. Maybe that is the reason that I get fatter than before.

I have watching the Red Cliff and the story is quite good..(Though there are things that are different from the actual one.)But still, it is still a nice movie. That all for the movie part.

I have been asking myself this question a lot of times..'If I am able to transfer to other polytechnics? If yes or no, why?'

For me,I guess the answer is simply no. Because there is no poly courses that focused on social science, which I intented to study in the university if possible. Not only that, I learnt a lot in this poly. (I become a better individual.)

Complains

After hearing some of the complains my friend made, one of the most common complain is that,"So chim..Cannot understand..". After thinking for a while,I guess I need to write a post about how to understand what I am saying to you..

Firstly,I am making important sentences in bold recently because these sentences will help you to understand.

Secondly, the first sentence of a new paragraph the starting statement. Some people may not want the explanation part..

Thirdly, you can send mails to me because I will not hack you or send you any spam bots or any malwares..Or if you want, you can tag me at the tagboard..

I just hope you can understand what I am saying because when you do not understand,it defeats the purpose of this blog.Haha..Thanks for visiting my blog.

Classical Madness

I remembered that I was editing my friendster profile and realized that I have no favorite music and movies..But the fact was that I did not like any songs back then. For movies,I did not go for many movies because I was a nerd back then..

Haha..Now,I guessed I have changed a lot..From a boy who do homework promptly and studied for all tests, but now,I skipped school and able to rationalize quite well now..Thanks to two people ironically,Allen and Bjorn because they were people who influenced my life greatly..(though it is a bad experience.)

Anyway,Bjorn is my elder brother(not sworn brother, but the flesh and blood one!!!) who is able to talk so well..I am into classical music now..Blue Danrube Waltz and Piano Sonata..Let go!!!

Intimacy

Intimacy is determined by these factors which are

1.Understanding of each other
2.
Attention to and fro

3. Communication between each other

My understanding here is more of the deep knowledge. Student A says that F= ma is force is equal to the mass times acceleration. Student B further explains why the formula is applied like this. So we can say that Student A knows that F=ma but Student B understands F=ma.

Close friends understand each other well not because they know each other’s name or birthday. But it is because they know far more than these aspects. It may be something like personality, character and background.

Attention is also important because if you do not give any attention to someone, which is also means that you do not spend time with him, the relationship will naturally grow cold. But you will ask me why to and fro?

Friend A has a lot of friends and rarely spends time on Friend B. Friend B has no other friends except Friend A therefore he spent most of his attention on Friend A. Eventually, Friend B will say something like this, “Why should I spend so much time on him?” Therefore the relationship will grow colder and it may end.

Communication is somehow of attention when you give attention to someone, you normally talk to him. But I would be saying more of how you communicate to each other. Some people are more sensitive to sarcasm and criticism. There are a lot of people who loves to pour sarcasm and mockery to these fellows without the intent to hurt the person.

Even close friends may be separated because they have enough of their mockery.

Bowling

For me,I going to bowling today..Yahoo..So long have not touch bowling ball..Not that I am sick of pool, but because I want to relieve bowling..Actually I want to try to hook the ball..Because I have seen the videos of how to hook the ball and now I am trying to grasp the concept..

Today's lesson is about why people react, but not respond? For me,reaction is easier than responding because responding may hurt that someone or trigger a respond from that someone.

Responding can be simply to hit back the people by actions or words, which can hurt someone.

Trigger a respond from someone can be quite discouraging sometimes because that person may not well to your answer.Try rebuking someone that he is wrong. The respond you get may not be desirable that is why people avoid responding to someone.

Judging Hurts

Judging Hurts?

If you are planning to be a lawyer or you are one,you can skip this post.Judging is quite scary.

Judging:
somebody giving an informed opinion: somebody who has an ability to assess quality or give an informed opinion in a particular area of knowledge or experience

Microsoft® Encarta® Reference Library 2005. © 1993-2004 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

To form an opinion or estimation of after careful consideration

Dictionary

The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, 4th edition, published by Houghton Mifflin Company

For me,judging is simply rough guesses about someone but does it hurts?Let say you have a friend who is not well liked by other people but you do not know him personally.

Maybe he came to you and said in the manner that you do not like,"Hey,do I know you?"You looked at him and you tried to guess who he really is.

You tell yourself,he sounds proud and I think that he is proud. Not only that,I heard people saying this person is proud too. Therefore,I guess that he is proud.

That is just a common case of daily judging. Why does judging hurts?

1. You can see in this case that it is influenced by other people's opinion.(Including those who do not like the person.)

2. It is based on first impression, which is normally not accurate.

I have a personal experience with this before.I was playing Gunbound at that time and I am really noob at it.There was a time that I come and play with this friend of my buddy in a team battle.

Then I was like misfiring for the most of the time and the word that I dreaded came."Noob!" and I was not quite happy at this.As time goes by,I come to know this guy who is the friend of my buddy through soccer and the one who said that I was noob.

At that time,I was like trying hard(haha) not to observe him because the way he communicate was simply proud.(maybe he said that I play so noob again.)If I judge him,I think that we would surely not be friends.(anyway,he really changed a lot and he really a nice guy.)

Communication among group

Communication among the group level

I think I need to elaborate more..Seriously, people are doing badly in a group level. Be it in the workplace or at school, there are really few people who can do well at a group level.

The process for normal group conversation is simply like this:

A topic/subject is just dwelt into and talked about.

It just continued or it ends and another topic/subject is raised.

I realised that male loves to stick on the topic for quite some time and girls are able to jump from one topic to another.

(Not saying males are dumb, but just one topic minded.) Normally, the topic is just an interest that is shared by most people.

The best advice that I can give you if you want a good conversation is simply get the attention from everyone and talked whatever you want. (Depends on where you are. You do not talk whatever you want in school project or workplace.) Second thing is simply introduce everyone especially those who are quiet one, ask them for their opinions.

Science:The Ball That Whacks You

Today I studied about a ball that whacks you hard..Real hard..Because it is about ballistics and the resources did not explain well why the formula is applied like that..I also have a pro besides me who know the formula well and why it is explain like that..

I now trying to survive through science and I have not get the formula I want..I found it hard to do well in science now because my concentration is now gone..Maybe I should play back Chinese Chess because it is great game for concentration..

Pass the Baton

Pass The Baton? That is my today's enterprise lesson..To be more precise,it is just passing down the business..I have been missing my enterprise lesson but I wondered will I be able to impress this facilitator, who is the only male teaching us for now..

Yesterday was kinda fun..Going to church yesterday and after that,we went to Northpoint..

Went to the food court for lunch and it was kinda pataya day..Because everyone was eating pataya rice and I was eating garlic fish rice..

I was quite quiet again and Yue Jie shocked me by asking me about school..Other than that,I have enough of bean curd so dun buy any for me..Tat all..

Personality Clash

Personality Clash

There are some people who we found it so hard to get along..It is not because of we or they who done wrong but it is simply that there is a difference of personality, maybe even character. But for now,let us concentrate on the personality.

You know there are people who relied more on their feelings and there are some people who relied more on their thoughts.(logic) People of the feeling preference may find thinkers not sensitive to their feelings while thinkers just think that feeling people are simply sensitive.

If you do not know what is my personality,I am an INTP,known as the deepest thinkers.

They love to create their own theories but seems lazy to people. They are considered as people who are very eccentric people and most people do not understand them.

But for me,I always found it hard to get along with people of the ST,because I dislike their kind of cutting criticism very much.I am a person who is very bad at dressing up and my speech can bore people.

It is the time to change to the better.

Oh man..I found someone who can be as bad as my second brother..To be truthful, there is one type of people I always find it hard to get along..They are people who are very straight forward and their remarks are very cutting..

It is basically the ST people and I found it hard not to dislike them because I cannot stand their comments!!!But they are the one who always have an impact in my life because they are the few people who dares to lecture me..

If you wan to know the person,it is Colin..Nice guy but can make u feel like beating him up just by his remarks.

But then, he called me and pointed to a newspaper which is in tamil..

"Airplane"
"Sri Lanka"
"Got snakes"
"Very funny."

Understanding oneself

Chapter 2 Understanding oneself

This is my favourite topic but it is not because I like this topic, but it is because by understanding oneself, you know how you act or behave in life.

This will help you to understand question like:

Why you are different from someone? (Even why are friends different from you?)

Why am I so quiet? (Why am I so noisy? Haha.)

Why some people have more friends than me?

And of course, these are only a few questions. There are two things we need to be considered especially on character and personality.

Character is simply the set of qualities that make you who you are. Personality is simply your characteristics. (Feelings, thoughts, behaviour...)

I know that one of my friends who were known as Mr Nice Guy, simply because he loves to help people and is always willing to lend a helping hand. For this Mr Nice Guy, he was basically compassionate.

There are also people who are not tall but always look down at other people. These people make themselves like kings and princes, but make others look like slaves and maids. When they open their mouth, they make you feel like crying or burning with anger.

One word to describe them is simply proud. Personality has been a very complicated and if anyone dislikes Carl Jung, you can skip this column.

As I would recommend you, do the personality tests posted on the website, which indicates the specific personality. I intended to write one but I think that it is much better if you do two or more personality tests, simply because logic or feelings may be deceptive sometimes.

That is about it for today. Thanks for reading.

Gossips and rumours

Gossips and rumours have been quite common in our life..

Why do people gossiped or spread rumours?

1.To be superior

2.To feel like part of the group

3.
For attention

4.
For control or power

5.
Out of jealousy or a need for revenge

That is one of the best resources I can get for you for today.Of course,I guess I would add in a few words.Gossip are simply pure evil.(Because you dun gossiped about someone who is good at something.)Normally what you gossiped can destroy someone's trust or confidence.

Do you like someone to talk behind your back?If you dun like,do other people will not like them. You may say that it is more of a backstabbing but gossip is about other people's matter.Keep to yourself and stop gossiping.

We normally targeted other people and they are your victims in that gossip of yours.Rumour is almost like the boy cried wolf..False and wrong information may land you in trouble..Normally people are not sure of the rumour themselves so keep it to yourself because someone or even you may get hurt.

Back to school again and again

Back to school finally..To start the school, the subject I faced today is none other than computing and maths..Good old Colin and Chad..They have communication on the first day..And I am more than confused for doing the worksheet..

I dun like graphs..But the good thing is that I picked myself up to study..But my psp is under the hands of Danny Ho..But hope that the choice made was good..But it is too late to regret for now..

But the happy thing is that my GPA is 3.0 which is ok for me and actually I expected something lower than these because I did not study for any tests..But the funny thing is that everything on the grade sheet is 3...

One more day back to sch

One more day and I have to return to school. Time sure know how to fly. Watching too much korea dramas and I have to stop watching. I still have some more dvds to watch but I know I need to stop watching so that I can concentrate on my studies.

Now I have two books that teaches me how to write exploits and tools.( I am not a script kiddie or a white hat) I just study because it is quite interesting. But I would say that it is more of curiosity than an interest.

What am I really interested would be social science because it was the only subject that I continued to ponder and think about for years. Normally I would not ponder about a subject more than months, so I am quite convinced that I like this subject.

Preview of understanding yourself

The next chapter is not yet completed and I have been trying to research on this. What does the understanding about yourself help you in your friendship?

It helps you to know why you react to a situation or an event.

It helps you to know why you are attracted to some people and not to others.

It makes you understand more of your own behaviour.

If intimacy with a friend increases through understanding of that certain someone, then how can we say that we understand others but not ourselves? First, we need to understand ourselves so that we are able to understand others.

If you want to be one step ahead of this one, I would recommend you to start doing personality test based on Carl Jung.

A good one would give you something like you are an

Chapter 1: Building the Bridge for Friendship

Chapter 1: Building the Bridge for Friendship

I have not seen anyone become friends without building the bridge for friendship. What is the bridge exactly? It is simply just in one simple word, communication. I started with building the bridge for friendship because people become friends just by talking with each other.

I am not saying that anything besides communication is not cultivating friendship. You can say that you become friends with each other because you played computer games with each other. But communication is the fundamental key to building or cultivating your friendship.

Let divide communication into two simple parts:

Communication to and fro with a group

Communication to and fro with an individual

Communication in a group can be the downfall for some introverts but extroverts enjoy them well. Some introverts find it hard to talk in a group level because of their reluctance to engage in group level. Not only they are lazy at talking in a group, but sometimes they find themselves out of place or ignored when they talked.

Eventually, they may not talk in a group for these reasons. Extroverts enjoy the situation because they are the one talking most of the time. People normally pick a subject to talk about and extroverts are generally good at that.

Introverts are generally good at individual talk because they always tried their effort to get an intimate relationship. They find it less pressurizing when talking individually. Extroverts themselves are good at both but some of them may desire a group talk, than an individual talk.

Most importantly, talk like yourself. I realised some people who do not like group conversation and they tried to force their way as an extrovert. If you are an introvert, be one. Do not try to be someone else either because everyone is not perfect.

I realised some introverts find it happy to be at group because they are engaged in a communication. It is simply because people talked with them and therefore they enjoyed their stay in group.

2 more days to school

It is 2 more days to school. Oh man. Of all the times to come back to school, I have to face one of the biggest thorns in my neck, Maths and Computing. Whatever the case, I cannot cry over spilled milk for doing badly at my major examinations and had to transfer to this school.

I have trying to pick up some Visual Basic books to read up and it has not been a pleasing experience for me.

But for maths, it has been my weakest link and I have never liked this subject since day 1. My secondary school friends has the luxury of enjoying a longer holidays but with a setback, more projects for them to do.

So I going to work hard now..Cheers for Sherman..
